The full story…

I grew up in Michigan on what used to be a Christmas tree farm. The Tittabawasee River flowed right behind our house and there were woods for miles. We didn’t have many neighbors, so I learned to use my imagination and creativity from a young age.

My grandmother would come over and show me how to draw and paint. We’d sit outside in the garden and she would tell me to paint what I see. Mine never turned out as good as hers. It was around this time that the desire to create was born inside of me and an adventurous curiosity inspired by the abundance of nature that surrounded me.

My curiosity continues to drive me to explore and discover new trends, approaches, processes and best practices in design. Whether I’m creating a landing page, social media assets or prototyping components, there is always a story to tell or a problem to solve visually. I’m passionate about approaching my work with process, I love the trial and error of creating something new while applying the skills and techniques that I learn along the way.

I haven’t always been a designer, I’ve been a bartender, a jiu jitsu practitioner, a runner, I’ve taught some yoga, I studied biology, human anatomy and physiology. But designing always feels like home and unites my passions for process, exploration, and using my creativity to solve some pretty big problems out there.

Outside of work you will find me hiking with my golden retriever, finding inner peace on my yoga mat, challenging myself at the gym, stand-up paddle boarding on a lake, fishing in the summer sun, chillin’ at the beach and sipping a margarita at the corner taqueria.
